Companions accompanying disabled visitors and under 16s are free but will need to book their free tickets via the buy ticket link. School/college vists - students will need to pay for the concessionary ticket.

Cafe

There is an on-site café selling delicious lunches, snacks and cakes, a coffee station and a licensed bar.

Disabled access

Please be aware that Victoria Baths is a Victorian Grade 2 listed building and is, regrettably, not accessible in some areas.

There is ramped access to the front and rear of the building with parking for Blue Badge holders at the front entrance on Hathersage Road. There are accessible toilets.

The GNCCF is accessible on the ground floor only, with hand-cranked accessibility lifts into the exhibitor stand areas within the pools. These lifts are wheel on straight ahead but exit on the pool floor to the right or left, so wheelchair users will need to be able to manouvre themselves or have assistance in order to exit the side ramps.

Please note that there are limitations on the size of wheelchairs, powerchairs or  scooters due to the need to turn within the lift. Manual wheelchairs and powerchairs are fine but scooters do not have the turning circle, mainly due to length and the fact they have four wheels. Car or boot scooters which typically break down to put in the boot of a car, are suitable for the lifts. We do have a wheel chair to borrow on site should this be required. Stewards are stationed at the lifts to assist with access and operation.

There are uneven floors in parts of the venue. Pool A and C are sloped at an angle of 5 degees towards the deep end and are tiled.

Aisles that flank the poolsides are cambered very slightly towards the changing cubicles which may make access more difficult along these aisles. In pool C we have graduates exhibiting in the cubicles and access may be limited if these aisles are busy.

Unfortunately, a small number of exhibtors are upstairs and Victoria Baths does not have a lift so we regret that there is no disabled access to these areas. We will state on the website who is exhibiting upstairs.

If you wish to see work from upstairs or from another part of the show that you find inaccessible, we will endeavour to assign you with a fair steward who will video their stand(s) and bring any work you wish to look at to you, with no obligation to buy. If this personal service is of interest please email so we can arrange this for you in advance at ann-marie@greatnorthernevents.co.uk. If you just turn up on the day, please request this service at the front desk and we will do our best to arrange it during your visit.

Credit Card Facilities/Cash Machines

Most makers have their own credit card terminals. There are several cash machines within a short walking distance of the venue.

Cloakroom

There will be a cloakroom for which there will be a charge of £1 per item. All articles are left at the owners risk and Great Northern Events NW Ltd accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to property left in the cloakroom.

Pushchairs/baby changing

Baby changing facilities on site. There will be limited space for pushchairs but there will be a trolley park.  There is no lift to the upper floor.

Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair (GNCCF) 

GNCCF takes place at Victoria Baths, Hathersage Road, Manchester M13 0FE. 

This is about 5-10 mins drive out of the city centre, near the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

The event is AA signposted but you can also follow the brown tourist signs for Victoria Baths.

Parking

There is no parking on site. You can park on Hathersage Road and neighbouring roads subject to normal on-street parking regulations. Please note some residential streets are permit parking only - check the signs.

Blue Badge holders may park directly in front of the building.

Do not to park outside of the enclosed rear car park on Pax Road, as this is private land and you may be issued with a parking ticket.

 

If you are planning to bring a group of ten or more to the fair please note the following rules apply:

Organisers must be contacted in advance HERE with planned date and time of visit and numbers attending. To prevent overcrowding all groups will be given a timed entry.

For large groups, advance payment may be required. This will reduce visitor queues on the day, and enable us to fast track your entry to the fair. All visitors are wrist-banded and reception will have your party's wristbands set aside.

School/college Groups

Students u16 visiting as part of a school group and accompanied by a staff member will be liable for the concessionary rate.

We are happy to invoice schools for the cost of bringing a group so your school/college can pay by direct transfer.  Please email us HERE with student numbers and details of who we should send the invoice to. (We will be happy to refund you the difference if some of your party pull out.  If this is the case please inform reception when you arrive of the number of drop outs and amount to be refunded.  We will reimburse you AFTER the show. No refunds can be given on the day).

if you have more students than you have paid in advance for you will need to pay for these on the door.

For those visiting Manchester, the award-winning Whitworth gallery is five minutes walk away, should you wish to include this in your trip.

Guidelines for Student Groups  

Whilst student groups are welcomed they must ensure that the following guidelines are adhered to throughout their visit:

• Larger groups to split into smaller groups of 5 or less when browsing the fair to prevent congestion around stands and in aisles

• Exhibitor business cards should not be collected routinely. All contact details are available from the website. www.greatnorthernevents.co.uk

• Our fairs are primarily selling events and exhibitors are there to sell work. We ask that students respect this fact. Most exhibitors are happy to answer questions but students are requested to give priority to buyers. Please ask permission from exhibitors for permission to take photographs or video of work.

• The café seating area is for visitors who have purchased refreshments from the cafe; we politely ask that students do not monopolise the seating area here. We reserve the right to ask visitors eating packed lunches in this area to move elsewhere.  You will be allowed to leave the show and return, so your students can use cafes outside in the venue.

In addition to our award-winning fairs, we carry out maker development workshops supporting makers to develop their small businesses and practices. 

We also have a well established outreach programme, delivering free high quality craft workshops, led by GNCCF exhibitors, to people living with mental and physical health problems, the homeless, asylum seekers and refugees, and longterm unemployed. Our outreach work brings many mental health benefits to the participants, giving them the opportunity to learn new skills and make things they are proud of. 

We are currently partnering with: The Oasis Centre, a community charity in Gorton East Manchester.  Previous partners include Progress Schools, teaching craft skills to teenagers struggling with mainstream education and the Manchester Settlement, working with disadvanataged communities.
