Great Northern Graduate Support Scheme
For most of our history, making things by hand was the norm, and the skills were passed from one generation to the next. Today there are fewer craftspeople and if the new makers graduating are not given adequate support at this crucial time, we are at risk of losing these skills and techniques.
As a not for profit company Great Northern Events are always looking for ways of supporting Northern designer makers, particularly the new graduates emerging from creative degrees. We provide complimentary space for graduates, heavily subsidised rates for those one¬-year-on and reduced rates for new makers.
To help us sustain and develop the work we have started we need your help. In a new initiative for 2011, we are launching, ‘The Great Northern Graduate Support Scheme’ where, for just £25, you can help to launch the careers of these new makers. £25 will give them a platform to showcase their work at the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair, introducing them to retailers, curators, press, buyers and collectors. They will be exposed to a wide audience via: PR generated, the website, catalogue and promotional media.
Members of the ‘Great Northern Graduate Support Scheme’ will:
- Know that 100% of their fee will go towards promoting graduates from creative degree courses.
- Receive two complimentary preview tickets for 2012.
- Receive a complimentary ticket to the public opening days-valid all weekend for 2012.
- Be entered into a draw to become the Guest Selector on the GNCCF 2012 selection panel, joining leading craft experts.
