Craft to inspire. Craft to collect.
Ornament 2015was a collaboration between independent curator and artist Victoria Scholes and some of the North West’s top craft venues.
Chosen from a range of makers put forward by the North West’s craft experts, Ornament 2015 gave us the heads up on the ones to watch, as well as inviting us to be inspired by - and even own - beautiful objects by national and regional craft stars.
it was also a unique opportunity to view pieces from some of our finest Museums and Galleries right and featured mesmerising ceramics from Jin Eui Kim, an unusual take on traditional blue and white pottery by Cumbrian Paul Scott and intriguing glass by Angela Jarman, brought to us courtesy of Manchester City Galleries, The Atkinson, Southport and Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Preston.
Ornament 2015 would not have been possible without the help and advice of the North West’s craft experts. Thanks to:
Maureen Bampton and Sam Rhodes - Bluecoat Display Centre; Rebecca Hill - Gallery Oldham; Vanessa McDermott - Gawthorpe Textiles Collection; Kathryn Rogerson - Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Preston; Janet Boston - Manchester City Galleries; Stephanie Boydell - Manchester Metropolitan University Special Collections; Philip Hughes - Ruthin Art Gallery Denbighshire; Jane Brown - The Atkinson, Southport; Amy George and Frances Pritchard - The Whitworth; Anna Bates and Alison Cooper - Touchstones Rochdale.
